According to that article, nearly 15 percent of teenagers think they will die young. (Yes, that's a lot.) Apparently, the kids who mostly tend to believe this are African-Americans, Native Americans, and low-income kids, the kids who are exposed to the most violence. Because of this, a lot of kids are beginning to do drugs and live their life crazy because they figure that they will die young anyway.
Mickey Mantle, the superstar baseball player went out and raised heck just about every night because he thought he was going to die young. All of the Mantle men had died very young and Mickey thought he was no exception. So he did stuff that hurt him a lot and probably shortened his life by some years( he lived to be 63). So the worst thing that comes form this is that kids will do whatever they want, and if they don't die young it will really hurt them when they're older. The people who looked at the data think that kids should be encouraged a lot and be given a positive outlook on life. Because if they don't have a positive outlook on life they will think that they are going to die young and they're going to live their lives that that they probably will die young. I think this is pretty sad. What do you think?
